We are developing software tools for the automated processing of radiological images. Our current research is focused on the precise evaluation of the motion in functional X-rays of the spine, on the identification of anatomical landmarks for the calculation of clinically relevant angles and distances, and on the automated classification of images, e.g. for the grading of intervertebral disc degeneration on MRIs. To these purposes, we make heavy use of advanced techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. This research topic is investigated in collaboration with the research group of Prof. Wilke at Ulm University.
